Interview
An Interview with the Author….
Q. What inspired you to write this book?
A. I realized that my calling was connected to my goal of reading the Bible straight through from Genesis to Revelation. Soon after, the book itself Glory! Glory! Pieces of God's Story was revealed to me. So you see, God inspired me to write this book.
Q. How would you relate your book to the Bible itself?
A. Even though my book could never do justice to God's Word and is not intended to replace the Bible, it is based on His Word and contains a poem for each of the 66 books of the Bible.
Q. How did you decide what to write about for each Biblical book?
A. After reading a particular book of the Bible - sometimes more than once - I, more or less, wrote a summary for that particular book of the Bible, a very condensed poetic version which I hoped would in the end honor both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Q. What do you hope to accomplish with this book?
A. My hope is that after reading this Biblical poetry, the reader will in due season be moved to reach for the Bible, explore the depths of its wisdom, and journey into its light in order to experience the power, love, mercy and grace of God.
Q. How would you expect someone to read this book?
A. Glory! Glory! Pieces of God's Story could be read as a daily devotional in which one poem per day is read in the order written or the reader may randomly select a poem daily according to preference. However, another reader might decide to plunge into the book and read as little or as much as his heart desires at one sitting.
Q. What was your favorite chapter to do?
A. That's a tough question since I have several favorites, but it would probably be 2 Timothy. Throughout his entire ministry, Paul suffered greatly for the gospel. Now in 2 Timothy, sitting in a cold, dreadful Roman prison, convicted as a follower of Jesus of Nazaret, isolated from the world with only a visitor or two, knowing that soon he would be executed, he never wavered in his faith. He never hesitated to write to Timothy whom he mentored in order to encourage him in the faith, to instruct him in teaching and preaching sound doctrine, to remind him to be well-disciplined and make the most of the time God has blessed us with and not to give in to the pressures of the world. He urged him to stand up to evil wherever it raises its ugly head and to live God's Word, to continue to strive to grow in the faith so that during difficult times there will not be even a minute's thought of quitting. Truly, "was there ever another disciple like the missionary Paul? Oh, how he stood tall!"
Q. If you had to choose only one chapter to represent the entire book, what would it, should it be?
A. It would probably be Genesis. Genesis records God's creation of the world. His purpose and motive for His creation and sets the stage for the rest of the Bible. It not only reveals that the earth is well-made, but it reveals God's nature, His desire for people made in His image and how special and unique they are to Him. It demonstrates how He kept his promises then as He does today.
